Growing For Showing
It’s not every ones intention to grow fuchsias for the show bench. Quite a number of people grow them for their own pleasure and most probably prefer to see the plants growing naturally in the garden or in a container on the patio.
For those of you who are looking for something a little more challenging, why not become a Solent Fuchsia Club member and reap the benefit of having first hand information on how to cultivate fuchsias and also take advantage to enter our Annual Show where the atmosphere is exceptionally friendly? We have held such an event every year since 1974. This is an enjoyable pastime and people of all ages can be included on equal terms with many different classes available to enter into. The main objective of organising such an occasion, is to put on a magnificent display of fuchsias for the benefit of those individuals who appreciate the fascination and beauty of this wonderful flower.
Our Annual Fuchsia Show is also a great social gathering. It is an ideal venue where the public and members from other Clubs and Societies visit us and enjoy the occasion of having a chat while surrounded by a magnificent display of top quality plants.
There will be the opportunity to visit the Refreshment Room and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee accompanied with home made cakes or scones.
We have a Plant Sales Room where there is the possibility to purchase good quality fuchsia plants of all sizes at very reasonable prices.
There is also a Fuchsia Culture Stand where one of our most experienced members gives detailed lectures on how to obtain the best results from this wonderful plant. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions relating to fuchsias.
A guide for pinching and stopping for the 2011 annual show can be found here.
