Welcome

Regular meetings, which are friendly and informal, are normally held on the first Tuesday of every month (except August), at the United Reformed Church Hall, Osborn Road, Fareham. Doors open at 7.00pm and the meetings commence at 7.30pm with lectures, question and answer sessions, demonstrations, slides and free use of our library. We hope to encourage and develop your interest in growing fuchsias as pot plants, standards or hardies and to introduce you to and become familiar with some of the thousands of different cultivars. Newsletters are produced three times a year. We also hold an annual show each year which gives all members the opportunity to display their plants. Each entry class has a trophy that is awarded, which includes the prestigious honour of the 'Best Plant In Show'.

Visits

We have visits to nurseries, coach outings to places of horticultural interest and social events. Additional meetings are held for beginners during the year.

Affiliated To

Solent Fuchsia Club is affiliated to the British Fuchsia Society (B.F.S.), Hampshire Federation of Horticulture Societies (H.F.H.S.), Royal Horticultural Society (R.H.S.) and South of England Fuchsia Fellowship (S.E.F.F.). The Club entered the H.F.H.S. ‘Show of the Year’ annually from 1979 until 2006, when it ceased to operate. During this period we received many Gold Awards and actually won the competition during 1983, 1995 and 1997. We were one of only two societies who supported them throughout their entire twenty-seven years.
