Annual Show 2011 Summary
Solent Fuchsia Club’s Annual Show was once again a resounding success. Twenty three members were responsible for one hundred and seventy five entries. This was the highest number of exhibits since 2006.
The overall winner with the ‘Most Points In Show’ was our Chairperson, Mary Knight. We wish to congratulate her for not only gaining the most points, but also for her dedicated contribution to organize the event.
The person with the second highest number of points was our devoted and reliable member, Bruce Bedford.
A sincere token of thanks must go to each and every one who attended the ‘setting up’ process on the Friday prior to the show and to all those that stayed behind to help dismantle everything after the show had finished and leave the hall as we originally found it.
A word of thanks must also go to the Show judge, Mr Roger Crowfoot, who did an excellent job deciding which exhibits were worthy of a first, second or a third place award.
A contributory factor to the success of the Show was the section dedicated to the Begonia Society, and we mustn’t forget the plant sales area which included the Bonsai, Cacti and Orchid Societies and of course our own Fuchsia Sales section headed by Eddie Gander.
We were exceptionally pleased with the public attendance whilst the show was in progress. Judging by their comments, they seemed well satisfied with what they saw.
Once again a big thank you to our van driver Frank, who also helped throughout the show period. It must be acknowledged that he has been involved in doing this type of thing for many years, and no one would even think of suggesting that it has anything to do with being married to the Chairperson!
We also recognize the assistance of everyone, including those that aren’t even members, who volunteered to give up their time for the benefit of the Club. Thank you.
